Tools
have been created on this website for access of our bibliography
of Tomales Bay research and lists
of species in the bay. Additional goals of this project are
to produce key data and reports necessary for the long-term
preservation and management of the Bay. We aim to distribute
information on the following subjects:
- Discovery of species previously unknown
to science.
- Distribution, abundance, habitats,
and ecological relationships of birds, mammals, invertebrates,
algae, plants and plankton.
- Hotspots of biodiversity in the Bay.
- Threatened habitats and communities.
- Identification of long-term human and
natural impacts from historic data.
- Publications to disseminate replicable
scientific and educational models for TBBI implementation
in other marin systems.
- Public and web accessible database
of species and habitates of Tomales Bay.
- Voucher specimens and genetic samples
for museums.
- Baseline taxa inventory for monitoring
future changes, impacts and restoration.
