The
process of involving individuals in the Tomales Bay Biodiversity
Inventory is just as important as the actual results
of the inventory. Classes, students, adults, teachers, and
other organized groups are able to experience the scientific
process first-hand and contribute high quality data to a local
conservation effort. Through this effort, participants investigate
the importance of biodiversity, taxonomy, and stewardship.
Inspire Stewardship through Participation
and Education Initiatives
Students
in a variety of grade levels not only encounter diverse kinds
of information, they are also involved in supervised, hands-on
experiences to fully understand the process and results of
science.
Teachers
integrate scientific skills into their curricula, are engaged
through field research, and receive training to improve their
natural history, identification, and data management skills.
Community
members participate in fieldwork and specimen sorting.
The Partnership encourages new programs inspired by the interests
and skills of people living or working in the Tomales Bay
watershed.
